Our Sites: Generating Renewable Energy

Our hydro power stations are managed by our sister company, TLS Hydropower Ltd, one of the UK’s leading independent operators of small hydropower stations. You can find our stations at the following sites:

Balgonie
Our oldest hydropower station, Balgonie is situated on the River Leven in Fife.  Built in 1922, it is a 650kW station supplying electricity to a local paper mill, Tullis Russell Papermakers Ltd.

Stormontfield
Stormontfield hydropower station is situated on the River Tay near Perth. It was built in 1946 and is rated at 100kW. TLS Hydro Power acquired the station in 2002 and restored it to full working order.

Nenthead
Nenthead Mines Hydro Power Station is situated on the site of the Nenthead Mines Heritage Centre at Nenthead in Cumbria.  It is a 300kW station supplying electricity to the Heritage Trust and to the National Grid.

Cleghorn
This hydropower station is located on the Mouse River close to Lanark. It is a 290kW station built from new by TLS Hydro Power in 2005.                                         

Aberdulais
Aberdulais hydropower station is on the Dulais River in West Glamorgan. It is a 230kW station that was built in 1992.  The hydropower station is situated on the National Trust site at Aberdulais Falls and is operated by TLS Hydro Power on behalf of the National Trust.

Roshven
Roshven is situated in West Lochaber and rated at 550kW. TLS Hydro Power built the station in 2008.

Glen Forslan
Glen Forslan hydro is a 500kW site also in West Lochaber.  It is the Group's newest hydropower station and was completed in November 2009.
