Roshven hydropower station

Where is it?

Roshven is smack in the middle of the TLS Hydro and LoCO2 Energy heartland of west Lochabar in the western Highlands and only a short distance from the hydro facility at Glen Forslan.

Site history

Roshven was built as a brand new site in 2008 in conjunction with a local landholder.

The hydropower plant

Roshven is a run-of-river site with an installed capacity of 525kwh.

The turbine is a vertical pelton type (which looks like a large wheel with scoop-shaped protrusions).

What's the environmental impact?

Roshven can produce up to 1,750MWh of electricity every year, which can power more than 400 homes.

Roshven itself is abundant with wildlife: red deer, eagles and pine martens are all regularly spotted nearby.
