Our customers pay for their renewable energy supply by direct debit.
Why do we use direct debit?
- Direct debit ensures that our customers stay up to date with their payments and do not build up large debts
- Direct debits also allow us a guaranteed income stream into our bank account to buy the electricity on your behalf (and to pay our staff!)
How do we calculate direct debits?
- Every property in the country has an 'estimated annual consumption' (or 'EAC').
- This EAC is based on the size of your property and the historical usage there.
- The EAC normally arrives with us (from your old supplier) around a month or so after you join us. This means all customers initial direct debits are set at £60.
So what is the process with EACS?
- We receive the EAC from your old supplier.
- We take the EAC and estimate how much we think you will spend over the course of the year.
- We divide this by 12 to give a monthly average.
What if I think my direct debit is too low? Or too high?
- Then just let us know! You are in control of your direct debit level and we will be happy to adjust your monthly direct debit in line with your expectations or consumption habits.
Direct debits, debt and credit
- Because direct debits are annual averages, it is normal for customers to be in debit or in credit at certain times of the year.
- Customers may find themselves in credit over the summer and debt over the winter. Usually, your summer credit will offset your winter debt.
- If you find yourself habitually in too much debt or credit, just give us a call and we can adjust your direct debit level.
- We are happy to accept one-off payments or, indeed, write you a cheque or make a payment into your account.
LoCO2 Energy will never adjust your direct debit without first informing you of our attentions.
